We don’t always get what we want. This may not be true for everyone, because some people work for what they want. Nine year old me was not able to work for a toy I wanted desperately.
Most of us watch television, especially children, if it’s not Netflix then whatever is on t.vwill have commercials in between. One day, while watching t.v, I saw a commercial about a toy called “My Littlest Pet Shop”. Right then and there my eyes grew big and I knew I had to have that toy, just like the commercial said. At that age I didn’t take into consideration how much money it was, nor if the actual toy was necessary.
After watching the commercial I ran to my mom and told her I needed that toy. Of course she refused to buy it for me, telling me I had too many toys already, it made me sad. I pleaded for days and did everything I was told to, cleaned my room, picked up my toys, wide my homework, went to sleep early and even ate my vegetables. Nothing seemed to change her mind. I gave up thinking I’d never see that toy in person.
On Christmas I opened my presents and there it was, my very own “Littlest Pet Shop.”My eyes twinkled with joy as I uncovered the red wrapping. I ran toward my mom, opened my arms and launched myself at her, thanking her with a tight hug, I became very happy.
Looking at the toy today, it seems pointless to have owned. It’s a pretty large building, shaped like a shop. It has painted pictures and stickers of animals, very colorful. I remember only playing with it about four times.
It remained stuffed In my closet for many years until my brother got married and I was able to hand it over to his daughter in law. She played with it all the time and sometimes when I babysit her she brings it over. Whenever I see it, it reminds me of being younger and wanting something so bad, but ending up almost forgotten.

ReplyDeleteThis story is awesome because anybody can relate to it. Everybody can remember that one time when they were little and saw that awesome commercial advertising that "awesome" toy. I really liked the way this story ended because its true, the toys we wanted so desperately when we were younger are now forgotten. Great story and great ending!
ReplyDeleteI also wrote about a toy, I got it the same day that I first saw it, but mine broke and I threw it away.
