I’ve had pets before: when I was in preschool, elementary, and even middle school, but there was something different about this dog. I was in eighth grade and I got home one day to a little tiny puppy. It was as small as a banana.
“What is this? Who’s it for? Why do we have it? Can we keep it?” Everybody was going off on my grandmother with a million questions, and we wouldn’t even let her answer before asking another one. When we finally stayed quiet for a second, my grandma said “It’s yours, I got it for you because you’ve been wanting a dog since the last one.”
This dog was literally so small, it couldn’t even walk. I love dogs, but this dog had something different.
“We’re going to name her Daisy,” my sister and I agreed. We were so excited we didn’t even know what to do with is first. It couldn’t play because it didn’t know how to walk, all she wanted to do was sleep. My grandma told us we had to give her some time so she can grow and get used to us, so she can want to play with us.
We gave it time. We were surprised by how fast dogs grow. Two months late the little tiny puppy who couldn’t even walk, was running around the house, chasing us.
“Dixie! Come here, Dixie! Stop biting the pillow, Dixie!” My grandma would complain a lot.
“Grandma, her name is not Dixie, its Daisy!” We tried correcting her more than enough times but what was supposed to be Daisy started responding more to Dixie, so that ended up being her name. We’ve had Dixie for over 5 years; she’s been the only dog we’ve had for such a long time. I’ve gotten so attached to her that I’d die without her but would die for her.
I love dogs so much. I can understand your love for your dog. They are so loyal and lovable
